Yes, the Brilliant Beyond-School Program (BBB-S) is a fully licensed childcare program. It operates under Ontario’s Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and meets the Ministry of Education’s regulations. This ensures that the program adheres to strict guidelines around health, safety, educator qualifications, and child development. Licensing ensures your child is in a secure and high-quality learning environment.
Our program is fully aligned with Ontario’s How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH) framework, which is based on four key foundations:
These principles guide our curriculum, ensuring that each child’s holistic development is supported in a meaningful way.
The BBB-S program offers numerous benefits, including:
Our program is structured to support both the academic and social growth of each child, offering a comprehensive and engaging learning environment beyond regular school hours.
No, your child does not have to attend a specific public school to join the Brilliant Beyond-School Program (BBB-S). Our program is open to all children aged 3.8 to 12 years, whether they are in public school, homeschooled, or not attending school. We also offer certain programs, such as drop-in and back-up care, for children as young as 18 months.
No, your child does not have to attend full time. We offer flexible registration packages that cater to both part-time and full-time attendance. Families can choose attendance packages that reserve a spot for their child on specific days each month. Drop-in care is also available based on space, and payment must be made at the time of booking. This flexibility allows families to tailor their child’s participation based on their unique needs.
Parents can apply for enrollment via our website. A non-refundable registration fee of $50 per family, along with a $500 non-refundable deposit for new families, is required upon registration. This deposit secures your child’s spot in the program and is credited towards the final fees. Visit our Registration Page for more details.
Our fees vary by program and are charged per child per day unless otherwise specified. We also offer add-ons at additional rates. For the full breakdown of fees and details about payment, please visit our Admissions Policy for the details on the fee structure.
Payments are made via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), e-transfer, or cheque. No cash payments are accepted. Fees are due monthly, and late payments may result in a $50 fee or suspension of services. For your convenience, pre-authorized debit (PAD) arrangements are also accepted.
Pre-authorized debits (PAD) are a convenient way to pay fees for our Beyond-School Programs. Instead of providing us with post-dated cheques, you give permission to have your bank account debited when the fees are due. Sometimes PADs are called ‘direct debit’, ‘pre-authorized chequing’ (PAC), ‘pre-authorized withdrawals’, or ‘pre-authorized payments’ (PAP).
BBB-S is open to all children aged 3.8 to 12 years, including those who are homeschooled, attending regular school, or in childcare. For certain offerings like drop-in care and back-up care, we also accept children from the age of 18 months.
We offer a range of programs tailored to meet the needs of children and their families. Some of these are:
We offer several specialized add-ons that allow children to explore specific interests in greater depth, such as:
Yes, we offer flexible scheduling, including part-time and drop-in care options, depending on availability. Parents can register for attendance packages that reserve their child’s spot on specific days while allowing flexibility.
Yes, we provide meals based on the program your child is enrolled in:
Parents or guardians must sign their child in and out of the program. For children using school transportation, parents are responsible for coordinating pick-up/drop-off with the transportation provider. Please see our Parent Handbook for detailed guidelines on these procedures.
We prioritize the safety and well-being of your child during all activities, both indoors and outdoors. For outdoor activities and field trips, we implement strict safety protocols, including:
If your child shows signs of illness during the program, they will be isolated, and you will be contacted to pick them up as soon as possible. If we are unable to reach you, we will contact your child’s emergency contacts. More information is available in the Illness and Health Policies section of our Parent Handbook
Our activities are carefully crafted to ensure a balance between fun and learning. We incorporate interactive, hands-on experiences such as:
By combining structured learning with open-ended play, children can explore their interests, build new skills, and have fun at the same time.
We understand that schedules may change unexpectedly, and we strive to offer flexibility within our program. Here’s how cancellations and adjustments work for different types of attendance:
Full-Time and Part-Time Attendance:
If your child is registered full-time or part-time, you can cancel or adjust additional days that exceed the minimum number in your package (e.g., 3 days per week or 10 days per month). To avoid being charged for those days, a 72-hour notice is required for cancellations or changes.
Drop-In and Back-Up Care:
For drop-in and back-up care, cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged. If cancellations are made within the 72-hour window, you will be billed for the full session.
Long-Term Program Changes:
If you need to make a long-term change to your child’s schedule, such as moving from full-time to part-time care (or vice versa), a 2-week notice is required. This allows us to adjust resources and ensure availability in the program.
Please notify our administration team as soon as possible for any changes, and we’ll work to accommodate your needs.
No, there are no reimbursements for absences. Whether your child is absent due to illness, family vacations, inclement of weather, or other reasons, the full fee for the registered days will still apply. This policy helps ensure that we can maintain consistent staffing and high-quality programming for all families, as spaces are reserved in advance.
If you know your child will be absent for an extended period, please inform the administration team as early as possible, but note that fees will not be adjusted or refunded.
