Key Components of Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is built on a child-centered, play-based learning approach inspired by the HighScope™ “plan-do-review” sequence. This methodology encourages children to plan their activities, engage deeply, and reflect on their experiences, promoting independence and critical thinking.
We promote bilingualism (English and French), literacy skills, and communication through storytelling, reading circles, sign language, and interactive language games. Ollie takes the lead here as our Literacy and communications leader, and together with Binta our multilinguist, they form a dynamic duo.
Our activities encourage problem-solving and critical thinking with counting games, shape exploration, and hands-on math projects, with m Stein helping us along the way.
With our STEM Starz, we integrate STEM activities that promote inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking through simple experiments and technology tools.
With Sam, we foster curiosity and understanding of the marine environment with interactive and immersive activities related to underwater science.
Sergio Multi is the coordinator of the creative art learning area at BEL-Haven.
We foster creativity and imagination with art projects, music sessions, dance routines, and dramatic play.
We support self-regulation, self-advocacy, and self-awareness with daily yoga, healthy eating practices, mindfulness exercises, and self-care routines.
Our programs build social skills and understanding of the community and the world through community visits, cultural celebrations, and social role-playing. Gentle Gail is there for us when we are engaged in social interactions, community connections and philanthropic activities.
With Wally, we enhance gross and fine motor skills with, organized sports, outdoor obstacle courses, and movement games.
Reina and Luca Carpenter are our Nature Navigators and Green Guardians. Together, we instill a sense of responsibility and respect for the environment through recycling projects, gardening, nature walks, and eco-friendly practices.
Practical Life Skills: Teaching cooking, personal hygiene, and financial literacy with Stormi Carpenter through hands-on activities.
